Testing...Testing...1,2,3.

What is the best way to study for a test?

Your class has spent the past few weeks learning a new chapter in the textbook.  It is now Monday, and you have a test scheduled for Friday.  First, tell me your actual study habits.  Be honest!  Then, tell me the absolute best ways to study for a test.  If you need some help, consult this list of Test Taking Tips, and share about which methods would be most effective.  Please make your post at least one paragraph.  When you're finished, respond to someone else's post.

  1. i study every other night. Don't try to do all your studying the night before the test. Instead space out your studying, review class materials at least several times a week, focusing on one topic at a time.

    1. I agree with you statement. Cramming almost never works for tests. It's good to take it slow and review your notes.

    2. I definitely agree Jimmy, it's a really good way to study I've done it a few times and got a good grade on my test.

    3. I agree that you want to study it but don't want to over do it.

  2. If i have to study for a test I usually read and retain the information. Or I take notes to have the information ready for studying. Taking notes are important by letting the note taker look back and view the information. If they are confused or need to remember something about the section, they can always look at their notes and do so. So that usually helps me with studying.

  3. To be completely honest I normally don't study I just try to read as much in class the day before and try to remember and do my best in class the next day I'm not that good at studying but I should really get in to the habit of it.

  4. My actual study habits are sometimes i make flash cards for the vocabulary. Some of the best way to study for a test would be to make flash cards for the vocabulary. You could also reread the chapter you're taking the test on.Study days before the test , not just the night before. One last tip would be to take notes as you read the chapter.

  5. My worse habit about studying is that i'm easily distracted. I usually get distracted with my phone and the internet. But probably my best way of studying is reviewing all of my notes. Also I go back and check my work to see if all of my answers are correct.

  7. I don't really study at all. I'll do it when I need a good grade or when my friends are doing it. My mom always says I have to but I do pretty good without it. But the best ways is to do it efficiently. It doesn't matter how long you study it's how well you do it.

  8. When i study i listen to music because it helps me study harder. The best ways to study is to not do it in front of a TV, because you will be more focus on whats on the tv then studying. Also dont study at a party where there are kids because they will wont you to play with them.

  9. The way I like to study is when I have to read the notes that I have taken a few times over. It helps me remember specific areas in the chapter. Also, it helps me when I find and write out the definition to a vocabulary word or even a work I dont know.

  10. I don't really study at all. But, I do pretty good without it. When I'm studying for a test I think this would be the best method for anyone and its to space out my studying time. For example, theres a test on friday. I'll study on Monday with any notes i took. On Tuesday, I'll read that chapter in my textbook. On Wednesday, I'll read the notes again. Then lastly on Thursday, I'll do the review guide and go through it a couple of times. Also, In between I will take short breaks so I can let my brain process everything I've learned.

  11. My study habits are not good but on the tests that we take I do good. But I think that the best way to study is to read the chapter a few times then take notes on the chapter. And once you are done doing that you should write the vocabulary words down study them. Once you have done those steps then you should be ready for the test.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Oh yeah I forgot about vocabulary words.

  12. My study habits are basically taking out what I need to study and just skimming it over. I think the absolute best methods of studying would be actually taking the time to go over it all. Also, don't try to cram it all in one day. But actually do it in separate days so you remember it better and it will stay fresh in your brain. Lastly, I would think you should take out every useful paper or assignment and try to get out as much as you can from those too. And remember to pay as much attention in class so you'll remember what you learned from there too.

  16. When I study I read the vocabulary and there definitions a few times. Then I read the capter or section over again. The most efective ways would be to memorize the things you need to and not every little word. Also you can study with a few friends but make sure they are serious about it. If you have trouble studying you can listen to some quite music to make it less boring. Make sure you are staying up to late and wasting your time to sleep.

    ReplyDelete
  17. My study habits are usually just looking over my notes/textbook the day before the test and then looking over them the night of the test. Another way i study is with friends sometimes because if you have a question about something they can help you out. I think the absolute best way to study is to take notes and write down summery's of the material. Another good way to study is taking brakes in-between, so you can let the stuff you just studied sink in.

  18. when i study i read it and close my eyes and see if i could remember it.

  19. When I study I dont real study a lot. When I study I either read form the book or go through the notes we did in class. Going through the notes really gives the main things that will most likely be on the test. Most of the time studying bores me.

  20. When I study for a test I go over work or notes that we have taken, or skim through the section that we read. Usually we get a study guides which gives me an idea on what is going to be on the test so I can know what to study. I usually have someone test me when I am done studying and if i do good I'm done but if i didn't do very good I study a bit more.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I usually try to study by using notes from the chapter or section or rereading the part i'm being tested on. I also try to study at least once at least once a day for 4 days from the test. I use google docs and use some of the review guides from there also and sometimes I try to make my own.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I don't study that much. When i do study I like to study off the notes that I take. The best ways to study are in a quite place with the notes that you took in the last 24 hours. First learn the main ideas then learn all of the details. Space out your study time. Make sure you understand the material. Study at least two hours before you usually got to sleep.

  23. I really don't have any study habits because I don't study for tests. I have studied before when I was in sixth grade and I never really liked to sit there and study for something I already knew. Even though I didn't study I still got good grades on tests for the most part. When I did study, the best way for me was to study in a quiet room. Then when I was done studying I had my Mom or Dad ask me the questions. I have noticed when I studied, I concentrated so much on the question I forgot them the next day.

    ReplyDelete
  24. when i study try to point out the main ideas and put them togather

  25. I have no types of studying habits, but if I was to study I would slowly memorize all the material instead of just trying to do it all at once. You can also use notes and studying with a person who is also doing the test. This can make it more easier. Avoiding distractions can make studying more easier as along with some quiet music. These methods are the best ways of studying.

  26. Before I start studying I go to a quiet and comfortable place. When I start studying I study the most important information first. I try not to do all my studying at the same time. I take breaks and space out my studying. I review my notes & re-read the chapter and see if I still understand them. I focus on one topic at a time so I don't get confused. I study two sections a night. When I'm done studying all the sections, I'm ready to take a test.

  27. What I usually do is I study Wednesday and Thursday, but never just on Thursday. Cramming doesn't work and I usually do bad on the test. The best possible way to study would be to study every other night so you don't cram everything in the night before.

  31. My method of studying is simple. I use flash cards for vocabulary & i reread the section . Usually at the end of a chapter in a book there are questions to answer. I answer those questions. I dont do all the sections in one night . Maybe 2 sections at a time . I often listen to music when i study but dont turn on the tv . It's to distracting.

  35. I study 2 nights before a test. My ways of studying include flashcards, power points, and online quizes. Flashcards are very useful, you put a question on the front and answer on the back. Power points are used to study notes. Online quizes are used to test what i've learned from the power points and flashcards.

  36. When I study for a test I usually skim over the main ideas of the notes we took, review the vocab, and then I read the rest of the notes. Other than that I don't really have study habits. I can't just sit there and stare at something and memorize it. Therefor, I don't usually study. And when I do study I quickly do the habits that I stated. Usually when I study I concentrate to hard, that I will forget the main things that I study for. So, I usually study the day of the test.

  39. Whenever I study, I go into my room, and become comfortable. I read the chapter(s) first, along with writing some out-there facts. Afterwards, I do the vocabulary just in case. Taking breaks here and there are really recommended, as long as you don't get completely sidetracked and forget about your studying. I would likely ask one of my family members to make up questions, then I answer them. Taking these questions and answers, I look at ones the would most likely be on the test. If the test was the next day, I would review them slowly in the morning, and in the first hour. I would also check my Google.docs notes in case I missed anything that I've written on paper.

I try to study every day, when I'm not doing anything, or sometimes I bring a friend over that is taking the same test to study with me. 65. I don't study that often, I normally just pay attention in class and try to remember the important parts.

  66. My study habits aren't very good. I usually get distracted by my phone or facebook if I'm on the computer. I try to not get distracted but it doesn't work. A good way to study is to take away all your distractions. Also, don't try to put everything on the last day and do it then, have different days to study different things.

    1. I have to take everything distracting away from me too. My attention span is very short. (fastforward doesn't help that:))

  67. I don't study very much but when I do I make up something fun so I'm not sitting there bored out of my mind. For example, if I need to study vocabulary and remember the definition I think of a short weird story to remember the words definition. It usually doesn't make sense but it helps me remember things when it comes to the test.

    2. Me too. I agree. You have to make studying fun or at least not that boring so that way you dont space out or get distracted.

    3. That's a good idea. I should try that next time I feel motivated to study:)

  68. I don't have very good study habits or study that much, but when i do study I make sure to go over things multiple times. I also have to be in a place with not a lot of distractions because i get distracted easily. I also put the T.v on or listen to music when I study too so it isn't so quiet. I always study off of school notes or study guides. Sometimes I study with my sister too because we have the same classes so we can quiz each other or with friends to make it a little more fun.

  69. I dont really study very much, but when I do I listen to music and relax. That way I wont be sidetracked. I go over everything at least twice and make sure I know it. A usual thing I do when I study is go over ALL my notes. If its math ill look at past worksheets and check the ones I missed or I will completely redo all of the problems(even if I got them right). I mainly listen to my music because because it blocks everything and everyone out and I can focus.

  70. I study by studying the night before the test or sometimes the two days before the test. I don't usually study very long because I learn things fast and I remember what I learned. Good studying tips would be at least studying the night before the test. Take time out of your day to study and actually make sense of what you're studying. If you only study for like five to ten minutes you don't give your brain time to comprehend the material you are studying. So for good study habitats just take your time studying and don't stop until you feel like you know what you need to know and you are ready to take the test.

  71. My study habits are that i like to read things over and over again. But know i know to write down notes and review them and study the main ideas. Sometimes i get side tracked and dont know what I really read. I get confused while im studying because their is a lot of things going on at once and its hard to focus on one thing.

  72. i mostly study every night so i can get an A on the test. when i do study i listen to music or study in silence they both help me concentrate. i also try and research the topic that we are studying. sometimes i even read the chapter and/or section twice. i go into my room to get some peace and quiet so i can learn better.

  73. I like to start studying early because you dont want to try and learn everything at one time. I usually study in my room so theres nothing to bother me. I look over my notes and reread the chapter. I like to also use study guides if there are any. I also listen to music while studying it helps me pay more attention and not get bored. I think some of the best tips are writing notes, summaries, and jotting down ideas. Flashcards also help with vocabulary words, and some of the best places to study are quiet places you can be alone. Music can help some but might not be the best idea for others.

  78. I usually study with my mom or with my cousin. They help me understand things that I don't get.
Also they test me over the material I learned so that I get a good grade on the quiz/test I'm going to take.
